Still more Chuck...

Definitely agree your top left one is apathetic, no worries there. I would have thought having the guy expressionless would help the humor as the spark goes off when he sees the opportunity at the end of the film. This way his expression can shift subtley, and he is revealed as a shrewd operator. Up until this point I reckon it would be ideal to keep him as bland as possible...make it seem that he is just there to populate the film, and the focus is retained by the alien. I hope this is all making sense. Chuck sets up the whole punch line of the film, and so the transition from lethargic oaf to cunning oportunist has to be really spot on....the 'boringness' of him sets up the sucker punch.

I think he needs to be old....kinda Vietnam veteran old....he's seen a bit....you know what I mean?

The big cheesy grin for the sign is cool, and the cheesier the better...

Yeah, I agree Matty, I actually think we're on the same page. He should be like the top left one for 90% of the time, just mumbling into the phone, totally oblivious to everything else. The right hand pic was the one other expression (other than the billboard) I thought he could have where he gets the light-bulb moment (cunning, crafty) and then the wacky 'Mr Marketing' grin for the billboard, because it's the last thing you'd expect from him and reveals his true character.

I can old him up a bit, maybe give him more of a beard, I'm thinking really quite hairy arms and shoulders, and I thought maybe during modelling he can get a bottom lip that slightly sticks out a little. I just didn't know how to draw that! The texturing can also make him look older and tired.

How are you going with Gene?

Oh, except the really old bit - I reckon he'd only be 55 at the most, or he wouldn't be that enthusiastic about marketing and the whole shebang...he wouldn't give a shit! :D

Coming along nicely Anita! I can see where Matt's coming from and I think a lot of the "craftyness" will come from his eyes. The three images Matt has posted, all the eyes are quite narrow. I'm liking the long sideburns Anita! Nice!
